More than halfway through this intriguing read “Ask Again, Yes” by Mary Beth Keane!🗣 _________________________________________ Loving the multiple perspectives in this novel that compliment each other so much. It seemed like I blinked an suddenly I was finished with this magnificent book: Pachinko by Min Jin Lee! _________________________________________ This book is quite the journey - literally and figuratively. It follows four generations of a Korean family trying to survive discrimination and poverty in Japan from 1910-1989. Because of this the pacing is very fast (moving about 2-5 years per chapter) yet somehow the plot is kept very straightforward and easy to follow. The twists and turns of this seemingly normal family were jaw dropping and the characterization of each person was so brilliantly done that I felt like I knew each one personally. The ending was simple but tied up all the loose ends very nicely. This book broke my heart and then glued all the pieces back together within the span of 479 pages.
